Drake Doremus has been one to watch for many years now, and really made a name for himself at Sundance last January with Like Crazy. Led by a beautiful pairing in Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin, the film took home two awards at the festival (and several others on the festival circuit), and now Doremus has re-teamed with Jones for his next film, Breathe In, which will be premiering at Sundance once more.
Debuting in the Premieres category, the film sees Jones star once more in the female lead, this time opposite Guy Pearce, and with just over a month before the film gets its world premiere, the festival has given us another great new image of the leading duo, as well as a longer synopsis.
“As summer turns to fall, music teacher Keith Reynolds privately reminisces about his days as a starving artist in the city. While his wife, Megan, and daughter, Lauren, look forward to Lauren’s final year of high school, Keith clings to those evenings he’s asked to sub as a cellist with a prestigious Manhattan symphony. When Megan decides the family should host foreign exchange student Sophie, the British high school senior soon rekindles an impetuous aspect of Keith’s personality.”
Jones and Pearce will be starring alongside Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone), Mackenzie Davis (Smashed), Kyle MacLachlan (Desperate Housewives), Alexandra Wentworth (Head Case), and Ben Shenkman (Pi), making for a very promising cast.
Doremus is also re-teaming with Ben York Jones, with whom he co-wrote the screenplay for Like Crazy and penned the script once more for Doremus’ return behind the camera.
Breathe In will be getting its premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2013, debuting out in Park City, Utah next month. I’m keeping my fingers very, very tightly crossed that it will then be selected to come to Sundance London in April 2013, because this is a film I cannot wait to see. For now, here’s our new look at Jones and Pearce in the leads, which you can click through to enlarge.
