Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, and Two-Face?

Those questions are what Gotham sets out to answer, and the first season is now coming to an end. It won’t be gone for long however, as the Batman prequel has been renewed for a second season with a premiere set for the Fall. Fox has released a promo which offers up an idea of what’s to come in the final four episodes.

It features some the debut and return of a number of comic book characters, while Gotham’s versions of The Riddler and The Penguin appear to take another step closer to becoming the villains we all know and love.
