Ang Lee’s Life of Pi has been earning almost universally praising reviews since its debut at NYFF, and with its US release just weeks away, the Oscars really seem to be calling.

We saw a handful of brilliant new posters and banners for the film last week, giving us a great look at the visually impressive animals in the film – most notably with the infamous Bengal tiger – and now Fox have released another great featurette.

“Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor — a fearsome Bengal tiger.”

Newcomer Suraj Sharma takes the lead in the coming epic drama, supported by Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Rafe Spall, and Gérard Depardieu, with Lee directing from a script by Oscar-nominated David Magee (Finding Neverland), adapting the critically acclaimed novel by Yann Martel.

Life of Pi will be released in 3D on 21st November in the US, putting it in perfect position for the Thanksgiving holiday. Here in the UK, we’ve a little longer to wait, with its release coming on 20th December, just in time for Christmas. I can’t wait. For now, here’s the new featurette. Enjoy.
