The “Sony Hack” is the gift which keeps on giving, especially if you’re at all curious about Spider-Man!

There’s a lot of information to digest here, but the Sinister Six and Venom spinoffs that Sony confidently announced via press release earlier this year? Don’t get your hopes up! Based on a series of emails, studio bosses aren’t sure that either of these projects will make for a good (and profitable) investment.

As a result, one of the ideas thrown around is to introduce Venom and Carnage in Sinister Six, with Spider-Man also playing a key role. This essentially makes it a Spider-Man movie of course, and it would see the hero fighting alongside his greatest villains in order to take on the larger threat of the symbiote duo.

Confusingly, Spider-Man would be in his black suit during the movie and would discard it after being “teased” by his new teammates. That would then lead to the creation of Venom. Sounds pretty terrible, eh?

A much better sounding option is to let Marvel Studios take over, with Spider-Man – played by a NEW actor – making a cameo appearance in Captain America: Civil War. Also on the table is a third reboot at Sony, this time picking up with a Peter Parker who has been operating as Spider-Man for a number of years. Villains suggested for such a movie include Venom and Carnage (of course), but also the Hobgoblin.

It’s also been revealed that Sony boss Amy Pascal approached Captain America: The Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo in early November, and they discusses those talks with Marvel Studios not working out. The duo also confirmed that they’ll helm the two part Avengers: Infinity War (confirming a long talked about rumour), but did offer to possibly serve as producers on Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man movies.

The best part about that? It would likely mean current producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will be fired!

More details are sure to find their way online soon, but based on the reaction from fans, hopefully Sony will now realise that moviegoers want to see Spider-Man in a Marvel Studios movie! Be sure to stay tuned to HeyUGuys as we’ll soon be taking a closer look at what Sony needs to do to save this comic book franchise…
