To promote the release of the indie film, Bellflower, out in the States today, Yahoo Movies have got a great new clip from the film that shows best friends Woodrow and Aiden pitting a flame thrower against a skeleton scarecrow. One guess how that ends.

Unfortunately, it’s looking pretty unlikely that the film will be getting a UK release date, so we’ll have to wait for its release on DVD/Blu-Ray to see the film, which has seen some positive attention and reception since its Sundance premiere in January.

We saw a fantastic poster for Bellflower last month, that really showed its mix of beauty/intensity, with two of the main characters hugging against the backdrop of a wall of fire and the car, named Medusa. And just like its Greek counterpart, Medusa is not to be messed with. Taken from the film’s website, here’s a look at the inner workings of the car:

“Controlled from the dashboard:

  • two fuel injected exhaust flamethrowers with a 30,000 volt ignition system
  • smoke screen
  • bleach drift-kit
  • adjustable rear suspension
  • loudspeaker intercom system
  • three surveillance cameras
  • 6-71 Supercharger
  • custom apocalypse exhaust system
  • posi rear end
  • self-contained oxygen supply for chemical or underwater warfare
  • roll cage, stow-able fold-down back seat
  • sawed-off shotgun in the trunk”

Evan Glodell makes his writing, directing, and acting debut in the film, and everything we’ve seen for it so far definitely shows that the man is full of promise. His film tells the story of best friends, Woodrow and Aiden, who

“spend all of their free time building MAD MAX-inspired flamethrowers and muscle cars in preparation for a global apocalypse. But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of love and hate, betrayal, infidelity, and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.”

Brilliant stuff. For those that are yet to see the trailer, I’ve embedded it beneath the new clip just to make things easy for you, because this is a film you should keep your eyes peeled for if you aren’t already looking forward to it. It looks fantastic. Made on a shoestring budget, if it lives up to how the trailer, poster, and now this new clip look, then it will almost definitely be my favourite indie film of the year. Without further ado, here is the new clip of the film, followed by the trailer.
