Bryan Singer (X-Men) returns to the big screen this spring in familiar blockbuster territory, bringing us Jack the Giant Slayer, promising to be every bit the epic action movie its title conjures up.

Originally titled Jack the Giant Killer, we saw a promising new trailer hit late last year, when the film underwent a title change to its current name. And after catching a new set of posters for the giants last week, the studio have now released a new banner, giving us a look at the human characters.

“An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.”

Rising young star Nicholas Hoult takes the lead here as the eponymous Jack, and he’s joined by Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor, Eleanor Tomlinson, Bill Nighy, Ian McShane, John Kassir, Ewen Bremner, and Eddie Marsan.

Singer is directing from a script written by Dan Studney (Reefer Madness), Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After), and Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects).

Jack the Giant Slayer will be hitting theatres in 3D and IMAX 3D in just over a month, with its US release date set for 1st March. We’ve got slightly longer to wait on our shores, with its UK release date set for 22nd March, but it looks like this should be worth the extra wait. For now, here’s the new banner, which you can click through to enlarge.
