End-of-Watch-UK-Quad-PosterDavid Ayer (Training Day) returns behind the camera to bring us End of Watch, a film that soared to #1 in the US back in September, and has been touted as the best cop movie for years since its TIFF debut.

The film has been earning brilliant reviews on the festival circuit – you can read our review here from LFF – and is finally arriving in UK cinemas today, and now StudioCanal have released a 60-second TV spot to help give you a nudge in the right direction.

“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.

Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”

Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña take the lead, alongside Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez, and Frank Grillo, with Ayer directing from his own script.

End of Watch is still playing in a number of theatres across the US, and is released in UK cinemas today, 23rd November. Judging by what we’ve seen from the film so far, this is a must-see.
