Due out in the US next weekend, Cloud Atlas is one of the biggest blockbusters still to be released this year. I saw the film at its premiere at TIFF – you can read our review here – and have been looking forward to seeing it again ever since.

A terrific new featurette has now debuted over at Yahoo Movies, taking us behind the scenes with the cast and filmmakers and teasing some excellent new footage from the various intertwining stories that traverse time and space.

““Cloud Atlas” explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.”

Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh Grant head the impeccable ensemble cast, with each taking multiple roles across the various plots.

Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer, and Andy Wachowski are directing from their won script, adapting the original best-selling novel by David Mitchell, who also appears in the featurette below.

Cloud Atlas will be released in regular and IMAX theatres on 26th October in the US, before coming to the UK a few months later for a 22nd February release, which should allow it an IMAX run on our shores without clashing with Skyfall (released on 26th October on our shores). For now, here’s the excellent new featurette, giving you a taste of the epic scope soon arriving on the big screen.
