The Monuments Men Press Conference

This afternoon, we spent in the presence of acting greatness as we were joined by some of the biggest acting stars in the world at the Press Conference for The Monuments Men. Producer, Director and actor George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Dimitri Leonidas, Producer Grant Heslov and surviving member of the original Monuments Man Harry Ettlinger were all in attendance at the Press Conference for their movie in London’s National Gallery.

All the actors were on great form and were very candid at their thoughts about the current state of the art world, how art has changed their own perceptions and Bill Murray event told a very interesting (and also rather shocking) tale about how art once saved his life.  Below is the press conference in full and below that is the excerpt from Bill Muray.

Monuments Men is released in UK cinemas this Friday 14th February. If you’ve missed our coverage of the movie, you can catch up here.

Synopsis: Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action drama focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed? But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.
