Over the past few years, Disney Animation has really delivered when it comes to great movies, something which was evident from the recently released Zootopia (only the second film in 2016 to hit $1 billion worldwide). Next up is Moana, and following the release of that very cool teaser poster, the first teaser trailer has finally been released and it is fantastic!

What’s unique about Moana though is the fact that it’s set to introduce a brand new Disney princess. That will be the titular character, played by 14 year old actress Auli’i Cravalho, a native of Oahu, Hawaii. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson meanwhile will be taking on the role of the once powerful demi-god named Maui, and he narrates the very cool teaser below.

“In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island,” reads the synopsis. “During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.”

Written by Jared Bush, Pamela Ribon, and Taika Waititi, and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, Moana has all the makings of a great Disney animated movie (minus the Pixar label) like Frozen and Big Hero 6 before it. Expect much more to be revealed over the next few months as we get closer to its release this November. That can’t get here soon enough!
