Disney movies are famed for their cross-referencing nods which have over the years become known as ‘easter eggs’. With so many (MANY!) films under the Disney umbrella, it’s no wonder than that the filmmakers like to pay homage to other creations they’ve worked on throughout their time at the famous studio.

Whether it’s a live action movie or animation, there’s no stopping the creators and it becomes an awful lot of fun for us, the viewers to try and spot the references whenever they may appear.
We saw this recently in our 20 Star Wars Rogue One easter eggs (linked above) although all those references were linked to previous Star Wars movies, when it comes to Disney animation, it’s much more common for the animators to link hark back to previous movies and even future ones that they may be working on before the marketing has begun.
When Zootropolis (Zootopia in the United States) was released, Disney sent us some wonderful images from the movie that gave us a little insight into the easter eggs that you could spot when you watched it back. Now for the release of Moana (in cinemas now), they’ve done exactly the same again.
Moana (character voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) sees a young girl take to the seas ably assisted by Demigod Maui – voiced by Dwayne Johnson) on her quest to become a master wayfinder. If you missed our review of the movie you can click here to have a read.
