Vulture are reporting that Mila Kunis (Black Swan) has been cast in Oz, The Great and Powerful, the prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz.

With her involvement confirmed, it seems she will no longer be involved in the Hughes’ brothers live-action remake of Akira.

Kunis will star opposite James Franco (127 Hours), who has finally agreed to take on the main role.

Oz, The Great and Powerful tells the story of how the Wizard (Franco) arrived in Oz became the ruler.

Sam Raimi (Spider-Man) is attached to direct from a script penned by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole).
