First he was in and then he was out, but Birdman and Spotlight star Michael Keaton is now in final talks to join the cast of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming in a currently undisclosed role. Reports of his involvement first started circulating last month, but stories quickly followed which revealed that the actor had dropped out due to some money issues.

Those were reportedly caused by Sony’s decision to add Robert Downey Jr. to the cast, something which led to them being unsure whether they could afford both him and Keaton.

Things have changed since then though, and it looks like the former Batman is definitely joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Jon Watts helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Who is he playing though? Well, all of the signs are pointing to the Oscar nominated actor taking on the role of The Vulture, and a new report reveals that he’ll be joined by The Tinkerer, a villain who will help Adrian Toomes build his wings. How? From recovered Chitauri tech salvaged from the Battle of New York in the first Avengers movie when Loki invaded.

However, that’s not the only suit which will be getting built and upgraded in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tony Stark will apparently provide Peter Parker with a few more modifications, including the classic armpit webbing from the comic books which he’ll be able to use to take flight during his battle with The Vulture. Sounds pretty spectacular so far, don’t you think?
