The plot thickens! With former Batman Christian Bale deciding he’s not the right man to bring Steve Jobs to the big screen, the hunt is now on for a replacement and Sony may already have a replacement lined up.

According to a new report, 12 Years a Slave and Shame star Michael Fassbender is being eyed by the studio to play the Apple co-founder in the movie which was written by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and will be helmed by Danny Boyle (127 Hours). No deal is in place, but he has seemingly emerged as a favourite.

Seth Rogen is in talks to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, while Jessica Chastain is also being considered for an unknown role. Before Christian Bale dropped out, Leonardo DiCaprio was also linked.

Fassbender’s busy schedule (which includes the next X-Men movie) may play a big role in whether or not he ends up playing Steve Jobs, but with shooting set to take place this winter, he may be able to squeeze it in.

The movie is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs, and Sorkin has previously revealed that the movie will be broken up into three lengthy scenes, each of which will take place backstage before the launch of famous Apple products. These are said to be the Mac, NeXT and, of course, the iPod.
