It was only a matter of time before news would arrive of Mel Gibson embarking on a damage control exercise of sorts.

The Playlist are reporting that Mad Mel (attempting to douse the fire of the Hollywood bridges he’s burned) will make a cameo appearance in the sequel to The Hangover.

A source has told the New York Post that “Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist” and that he’s expected to film his role in two weeks before the gang head off for location work in Bangkok.

This sounds like a strategic move to gently win back respect from the movie-going public, and what better way to do this than by placing the Lethal Weapon star in the middle of a trio of much-loved comic characters to act against. After all, it worked for Iron Mike!

His starring role in Jodie Foster’s third directorial effort (dark comedy The Beaver) has yet to see the light of day and both Foster and the studio behind the film must be eager to get to the point where they feel confident it can be released without the personal life of the lead affecting the box office revenue.
