According to a new report, Marvel are in “advanced negotiations” to bring Doctor Strange to Pinewood-Shepperton in the UK for a mid-2015 shoot. A crew is already being assembled for the movie which is being directed by Scott Derrickson, the filmmaker behind the likes of Deliver Us From Evil and Sinister.

They also mention that the movie has been dated for a July 8th, 2016 release, the slot many assumed had been set aside for Doctor Strange as Captain America 3 lands a little earlier on May 6th, 2016.

Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) penned the latest iteration of the screenplay based on an earlier draft by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. We’re yet to hear any sort of official casting news, but Joaquin Phoenix’s name has come up a number of times as being in talks to star as Doctor Strange for Marvel.

Disney have a good relationship with Pinewood, with Star Wars Episode VII currently shooting there and Avengers: Age of Ultron having shot a significant chunk of the movie at Shepperton earlier this year.
