There were rumours that True Detective star Rachel McAdams was in talks to join the cast of Doctor Strange, but the actress herself has now confirmed it at the Toronto International Film Festival. She previously acknowledged talks with Marvel Studios back in July, but didn’t seem sure at the time whether it would happen. Thanks to The Wrap, we now know it will!

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on who McAdams will be playing. Clea seems the most likely candidate given her links to Dormammu (a villain it’s thought will be played by Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen), but it could be some time before we find out for sure.

Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Doctor Strange, and he will be joined by already confirmed cast members Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo. Scott Derrickson is directing the movie which is set to be released on November 4th, 2016.

Like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange marks a big risk for Marvel. It’s going to be a very trippy and unique movie, though this incredible A-List cast is sure to draw in moviegoers. McAdams was also recently seen in Southpaw and received the lion’s share of praise for her role in the divisive second season of HBO’s True Detective. Learn more about Doctor Strange here.
