Agents-of-S.H.I.E.L.D.-LogoAs promised, ABC debuted the first thirty-second trailer/promo for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D over the weekend. And, as expected, it was awesome.

And to make things all the sweeter, Marvel and ABC have just released a full three-minute trailer, that is even more awesome, giving us an even better look at the premise.

Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson’s team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

From Executive Producers Joss Whedon (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” ”Buffy the Vampire Slayer”); Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” pilot co-writers (“Dollhouse,” “Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”); Jeffrey Bell (“Angel,” “Alias”); and Jeph Loeb (“Smallville”) comes Marvel’s first TV series. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

Clark Gregg returns (#CoulsonLives) from the grave* following last year’s The Avengers. And he’s joined by a stellar cast, led by Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Brett Dalton, Eliazabeth Henstridge, and Chloe Bennet. And as you can see from the trailer below, Whedon’s past collaborator J. August Richards will be along for the ride as well, at least for the pilot.

Joss Whedon himself makes a much-anticipated return to the small screen here, creating the programme alongside Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, with Joss Whedon directing the pilot himself amidst pre-production on The Avengers 2.

Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 has done a brilliant job of giving us a look at Tony Stark / Iron Man in a post-The Avengers world, knowing that there’s more out there than he once believed. And now it looks like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be taking that one step further and imagining that thinking on a wider scale, not just for S.H.I.E.L.D. but for the public as a whole.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting off to a soaring start. With ABC officially ordering the pilot to series, we cannot wait to see the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s translation onto the small screen.
