It was confirmed last year that Sherlock and The Imitation Game star Benedict Cumberbatch will play the titular superhero in Doctor Strange, but the cast is now beginning to fill up as Chiwetel Ejiofor is being eyed for what is described as a leading role in the Marvel Studios movie helmed by Sinister’s Scott Derrickson.

Who is he playing? That’s not clear, with some sites reporting that it’s a villainous role and others saying it could be something else altogether. The two most likely candidates are Baron Mordo and The Ancient One!

For those of you unfamiliar with the comic books, both Doctor Strange and Baron Mordo were trained by The Ancient One, but when the latter betrayed their master for the villainous Dormammu, it was Stephen Strange who inherited the mantle of the Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme. Whoever Ejiofor plays, he’s a great addition!

The British actor was eyed for a villainous role in the latest James Bond movie Spectre, but talks didn’t get too far with that one. Ejiofor has impressed critics in movies like 12 Years a Slave and Children of Men.

Doctor Strange is expected to start shooting after Captain America: Civil War concludes production. The movie is set to be released on November 4th, 2016, but hopefully we’ll get even more casting news soon!
