It’s all been happening over at Comic-Con this weekend! Marvel were billed for take Iron Man 3 there for an hour, but they took a few surprises with them – Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man test reel, the full titles and logos for its upcoming slate of films, confirmation that Guardians of the Galaxy is indeed their unannounced 2014 film, and the first concept art from it.

Kevin Feige, Marvel’s President of Production, kicked off the proceedings last night and said that the studio is currently actively working on four films, and announced the full titles to two of the sequels heading our way in 2013/14 – Iron Man 3 is too awesome to even need a subtitle.

– Iron Man 3 (3rd May, 2013)

– Thor: The Dark World (8th November, 2013)

– Captain America: The Winter Soldier (4th April, 2014)

– Guardians of the Galaxy (1st August, 2014)

In regards to Guardians of the Galaxy, he also revealed that the team making up the Guardians would be StarLord, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Gamora. (And let’s be honest, you really couldn’t leave out a hero with the name Rocket Racoon.)

Then: Enter Edgar Wright. We heard last month that Wright had wrapped a test reel on his long-in-development Ant-Man project under the radar, and the Comic-Con audience was lucky enough to see what he shot:

“The footage opened with Ant-Man sitting on a ledge in an air conditioning vent that lead to a hallway guarded by two agents.  The costume was pretty metallic looking, and he snuck through the vent hole and started running down the hallway.  He morphed to normal size, shocking the guards, then morphed back down to ant size and kept running.  Still in “ant size” he leapt up and punched one of the guys in the face, knocking the spit out of him, then he ran and attacked the other guard.”   –   via Collider

He’s keeping mum on who will be playing Ant-Man, but it’s awesome to know the project is far enough along in the Marvel pipeline for Feige to want Wright there at Comic-Con.

And then came Iron Man 3 – Robert Downey, Jr.’s all-around general awesomeness, director Shane Black confirming that Sir Ben Kingsley will be playing the Mandarin, and that shooting is roughly half-way through completion.

All absolutely brilliant news.

We all know that Marvel are absolutely amazing at what they do – no one has done quite what they’ve managed since Iron Man back in 2008. We’ve come a long way since then, and we’re all incredibly excited for Phase Two to begin.

Iron Man 3 will be released on 3rd May, 2013, and it can’t come fast enough. After the panel, Mavel kindly updated their website for those of us not in San Diego to include all the official logos and the first concept art from Guardians of the Galaxy, and as usual with all of them below, you can click to enlarge. Enjoy.
