It was recently revealed that Mark Ruffalo will reprise the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, with rumours pointing to the two heroes teaming up and heading off on some sort of cosmic adventure. Well, the actor himself has now shed some details on what we should expect, and it sounds like Marvel are taking things in a very cool direction.

“I don’t really know that much about it,” the actor confessed, “but I think it’s going to be a buddy picture with Thor and Bruce Banner.” A buddy picture? That’s far from what most fans expected from Thor: Ragnarok, a movie with a title which implies that it’s going to be about the end of all things as the God of Thunder deals with an apocalypse level event on Asgard.

Still, a buddy picture is a lot better than a buddy comedy, and it doesn’t sound as if Thor and The Hulk will actually get on all that well! “I think they’ll probably fight,” Ruffalo teased. “There’s no doubt, everyone wants us to fight at one point.” He makes a valid point, especially after the two heroes ever so briefly came to blows back in Avengers Assemble!

“I know that it’s about [the Norse legends of] ‘Ragnarok,’ or the end times in the Marvel universe as it pertains to Thor — which seems to be quite the theme these days in movies,” he added when asked about the plot of the movie, another strong hint that Thor: Ragnarok isn’t going to veer too far from the source material. It’s still too early to say what kind of a role The Hulk will play in the movie, but the Jade Giant’s involvement is still pretty exciting!

While the focus needs to remain on Thor, chances are that Ragnarok could adapt Planet Hulk as well, but that too isn’t clear at this stage. As always, stay tuned to HeyUGuys for updates.
