Man-of-Steel-PosterZack Snyder’s Man of Steel has of course been a huge success this month. The global box office speaks for itself, with more than 0m. in the bank to date.

And with Man of Steel 2 already on the horizon, things are definitely looking good for those hoping the film would launch the long-awaited DC Cinematic Universe for Warner Bros.

One of the many brilliant things about Snyder’s blockbuster is, of course, its score, composed by the ever-great Hans Zimmer. And now the studio have released a great little music featurette, in which we get to see Zimmer assembling a dozen of the finest drummers to help bring the score to life.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Henry Cavill is of course at the centre of the film as the eponymous hero himself. And he’s joined by a terrific cast, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder is behind the camera, directing from a script penned by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.

Snyder and Goyer have already been set to reunite for the sequel. And with any luck, the duo will reunite with Hans Zimmer once more to bring another fantastic score next time around.

Man of Steel is currently playing in cinemas in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D, and continues to dominate box offices around the world. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend seeking it out as soon as possible.
