Henry-Cavill-in-Man-of-SteelWith each day that passes, we’re one step closer to seeing Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Man of Steel hit the multiplex. And I can’t tell you how excited I am to see that happen. The film has long been my most anticipated of the year, with the potential to launch a long-awaited DC Cinematic Universe. And there’s been incredible buzz surrounding the Superman reboot for months.

Yesterday, we were treated to a brilliant extended featurette, along with another epic new TV spot for Snyder’s blockbuster. And now Warner Bros. have released dozens of hi-res new images and set photos; a number of them have surfaced already, but plenty are new, including a shot of Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder on set.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Henry Cavill takes the lead as the Man of Steel himself, Kal-El / Superman / Clark Kent. And he stars alongside a terrific cast, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Richard Schiff, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder is directing from a script penned by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.

Man of Steel will be released in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D on June 14th in the US and UK, and that is definitely a release date you should commit to memory. Whilst we continue to count down the days, here are the latest images, which you can click through to enlarge.
