Charlie Brooker’s thought provoking and sometimes shocking Black Mirror returns this Christmas with a 90-minute special. There have been six episodes to date – all of which were well-received by critics – starring the likes of Rory Kinnear, Rupert Everett, Toby Kebbell, Hayley Atwell and Domhnall Gleeson.

The cast of this year’s effort might just be the most impressive yet however as the Channel 4 drama will bring together Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) and Rafe Spall (Prometheus).

Plot details are scarce, but the episode will feature three interwoven stores of “Yuletide techno-paranoia” which will see Hamm’s character in all three of the stories. Channel 4 also promise that it will be the most mind-bending instalment in the Black Mirror series to date which says a lot based on past episodes!

The drama starts shooting this week in the UK and Carl Tibbetts (Retreat) is set to direct.

“I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Black Mirror Christmas Special. I have been a massive fan of the show since its inception,” said Hamm in a statement release earlier today. “Its dark humour and intelligent observation of our society and values hooked me deeply as a viewer and I’m honoured that Charlie and the rest of the creative team have asked me to participate in wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.”
