It started out as a fake trailer, and then it became a modern cult classic, and now Danny Trejo is just a few months from returning for more action in Machete Kills as the eponymous former Mexican Federale agent.
The first trailer landed back in the spring, giving a brilliant tease for fans of the franchise, which naturally sees Robert Rodriguez back behind the camera. And now a new trailer has launched over on Machinima, giving an even better look at Trejo’s return.
In MACHETE KILLS, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent MACHETE, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.
A cast of new and familiar faces alike will be joining Trejo for the sequel, led by Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, Sofía Vergara, Charlie Sheen / Carlos Estevez, Demián Bichir, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson.
Rodriguez is directing from a script written by Kyle Ward, based on a story the director wrote with his brother, Marcel Rodriguez.
Machete Kills will be released in the US on October 11th. No word yet on a firm UK release date, but it will likely be heading across the Atlantic around the same time. In the meantime, here’s the latest trailer to get you back in the mood.
