Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of Macbeth premiered to great acclaim at Cannes last month, with critics praising Fassbender and Cotillard’s performances in particular.
What you’ll see from this new trailer is the command Kurzel has over the majesty of the piece, his battle scenes are like Girodet’s paintings come to slow, terrible life. Contrast this to the moments of intimacy present here. This will be a sumptuous visual feast.
With Paddy Considine, David Thewlis and Sean Harris in support this generation’s Macbeth looks to be one of best Shakespeare adaptations in many years.
Sadly we have to wait until the 2nd of October to see it.
