Released in North America back in November, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln has taken north of 0m. domestically alone, and earned itself an enviable 12 Oscar nominations, the most nominated film going to the awards next month.

The film has been earning critics’ praise for the past few months – you can read our review here – with Daniel Day-Lewis’ performance noted in particular, winning him the Best Actor award in the dramatic category at the Golden Globes at the weekend.

With its UK release now on the horizon at the end of this month, Fox have released two great new TV spots to get us all in the mood on our shores.

Day-Lewis takes the lead as the eponymous president, Abraham Lincoln, and is joined by an all-star cast, headed up by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, John Hawkes, Jared Harris, Jackie Earle Haley, James Spader, Lee Pace, David Oyelowo, and David Straithairn.

Spielberg is directing from a script by the Oscar-nominated Tony Kushner (Munich), who adapts the original book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Lincoln is still on wide release in the US, with its numbers still keeping it in the Top 10 at the box office after all these weeks. Its UK release date is set for 25th January, and looks to be a must-see film this year, especially ahead of next month’s Oscars.
