Life-of-Pi-InfographicAng Lee’s Life of Pi is officially an astounding success, both critically and commercially. The film has already been shortlisted for the Oscars in the Best Visual Effects category, and is expected to pick up further nominations come January.

And having been released in a handful of territories in the past two weeks, including the US, it has grossed over $100m. worldwide.

It’s UK release is set for later this month, just in time for Christmas, and now a new infographic has debuted over at Film.com, giving us a ‘wildly guestimated’ run-down of how Pi spends his time at sea.

“Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship’s only other survivor — a fearsome Bengal tiger.”

Newcomer Suraj Sharma takes the lead in the coming epic drama, promising a strong acting debut, supported by Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Rafe Spall, and Gérard Depardieu, with Lee directing from a script by Oscar-nominated David Magee (Finding Neverland), adapting the critically acclaimed and best-selling novel by Yann Martel.

And in case you missed it, you can watch the brilliant latest trailer here, perfectly cut to the amazing song, Paradise, by Coldplay.

Life of Pi is currently playing in 3D in theatres across the US, and will be released in the UK on 20th December. It looks like it could well be one of the year’s finest films, and I’m looking forward to finally seeing it for myself. For now, here’s the great new infographic, which you can click through to enlarge.
