Josie-Long-in-Romance-and-AdventureComing off the back of a nomination at the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards, director Doug King and comedian Josie Long are about to embark on a nationwide tour of their two short films, Let’s Go Swimming and Romance and Adventure.

The tour, naturally entitled Doug & Josie: The Let’s Go Adventure Tour, will set sail (in a camper van) on November 2nd, kicking things off at the Greenwich Comedy Festival, and will cross up and down Great Britain with dates in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge, and many more, before finishing things off down in Brighton at the start of December. And with tickets about to go on sale this coming Monday, 2nd September, the teaser trailer has launched to give you a taste of what to expect.

In Let’s Go Swimming, Josie has left her life in London for a better one in Glasgow, the indie band theme park where she will finally be happy and accepted. But sitting in cafes and going to gigs on your own isn’t as fulfilling as she’d hoped.

In Romance and Adventure, Darren is Josie’s best friend. Josie is Darren’s flatmate. Approaching 30, Josie is desperate to travel, to escape, to do something big. Darren is happy having his meals cooked by someone other than his mum. Together they drink Buckfast and wander the streets, wondering why their friends are becoming old and boring, with houses and marriages and kitchens to retile. Together they make fun of squares and make up games, it’s them against the world, or so Josie hopes. How much can you rely on a friend who doesn’t want to grow up?

Josie and Doug will of course be on hand at each of the dates, with Long doing a short intro before the shorts are screened, followed by an audience Q&A with both her and King after the films.

The two shorts were both written by Long and directed by King, with Let’s Go Swimming featuring cameos from Stuart Murdoch, Aidan John Moffat, and Jojo Sutherland, and Romance and Adventure featuring cameos from Alison Peebles and Jo Neary.

Long and King are now working on a script for the feature-length debut, which the Oscar-nominated Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop, Four Lions) is script editing for them. So if you’re a fan of shorts and/or comedy, then you can pick up tickets for your nearest date below from Monday.
