Warner Bros. are hoping for a huge box office haul for the first spin off from their recent success with The LEGO movie. Will Arnett’s laconic take on the miserable superhero was one of the highlights of Chris Miller and Phil Lord’s film, and while the duo are currently busying the Star Wars spin off based around Han Solo Chris McKay takes his place in the director’s chair for The LEGO Batman Movie.

Zach Galifianakis, Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, and Ralph Fiennes are all signed up to lend their voices to the new film, and you can expect a number of cameos from well-known voices. Galifianakis is the LEGO universe’s Joker,  Cera is said to be voicing Robin, Rosario Dawson is Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl), and Fiennes is lending his ‘woud-that-t-were-so-simple’ elocution to the role of Alfred Pennyworth.

Mariah Carey (of course) will voice Mayor McCaskill, Jenny Slate appears as Harley Quinn and there’s Lando Calrissian himself Billy Dee Williams reprising his role from Tim Burton’s Batmanverse as Harvey Dent – this time however he’s going all the way to become Two-Face.

It’s a solid cast, and the trailers we’ve seen so far point to a continuation for the metatextual maelstrom, and we share WB’s hopes that this will be the first of many hilarious spin offs set in their new universe.

Today we have a number of new character posters to share with you, each a delight, and they introduce us nicely to the film’s fan favourite faces.
