Tom Hanks in Cloud AtlasWe’ve gone a bit Cloud Atlas crazy on HeyUGuys in the last 24 hours but this movie has the potential to be big. It comes from the people who made The Matrix Trilogy of movies The Wachowski brothers as is directed by the person behind Run Lola Run (Tom Tykwer) which if you’ve never seen, you need to be adding to your LOVEFiLM or Netflix queues as soon as possible.

Cloud Atlas is a best-selling book written by David Mitchell. The movie adaptation stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, and Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, Hugo Weaving, James D’Arcy, Jim Sturgess, and Susan Sarandon and if you missed it this morning, have a watch of the trailer here. It’s a very odd premise where these characters named above play multiple characters throughout the movie and I’m intrigued to see how it’s going to be done and whether or not it will work.

The story goes back and forward in time following multiple characters including Dr Henry Goose (Tom Hanks) and Luisa Rey (Halle Berry) in a plot that covers the nineteenth century and a distant, post-apocalyptic future.

The trailer very much reminded me of Terry Gilliam’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in it’s randomness but I guess time will tell when it debuts at TIFF later in the year.
