Spider-Man star Kirsten Dunst and Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons have lined up key roles in the highly anticipated second season of Fargo. The first ten episodes (which were broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK) were met with an overwhelmingly positive response and starred Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton.

Dunst is set to play Peggy Blomquist, a small town beautician with big city dreams who is trying to figure out who she really is and what she really wants as she struggles with traditional societal expectations.

Plemons meanwhile will play her husband Ed, a butcher’s assistant who wants to be supportive of his wife’s self-discovery, even if he doesn’t quite understand it. Two quite vague descriptions, but still intriguing!

Fargo is set in the same world as the critically acclaimed Coen Brothers movie, and. season two will travel back to 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer Lou Solverson, recently back from Vietnam, will tackle an all new ‘true crime’ case. Solverson’s wife, Betsy, their four-year-old daughter, Molly, and fellow officer, Ben Schmidt are all also set to be part of the show.

If some of those names sound familiar, it’s because we met an adult version of Molly and a much older Lou in the first season of Fargo, making this a prequel. Jeffrey Donovan and Nick Offerman are both also rumoured to be in the running for key roles, but only Dunst and Plemons have been confirmed so far.

If you haven’t watched the first season of Fargo, you really should. Here’s the trailer for you to check out…
