Sofia Boutella and her unique appendages in Matthew Vaughn’s Kingman: The Secret Service were a real standout of that comic book adaptation, and the actress now looks set to go from blade legged assassin to a whole other galaxy (though not one which is Far, Far Away). She’s apparently set to star in Star Trek 3.

The threequel is being written by Simon Pegg – who plays Scotty in the Star Trek movies – and Doug Jung following the departure of Alex Kurtzman. With J.J. Abrams busy finishing off work on Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directing duties have gone to Fast & Furious and True Detective season two helmer Justin Lin.

There’s no word on who Boutella will play in Star Trek 3 as the plot is obviously a closely guarded secret. Rumour has it that the Klingons are going to have a much larger role in this instalment however.

However, Deadline mentions that the actress is expected to have a leading role in the movie. They just can’t say whether that will be as an enemy or ally to the crew of the Enterprise, or if she’ll play someone already known to Star Trek fans from the previous movies and TV shows. Star Trek 3 will beam up on July 8th, 2016.
