More than a decade has passed since the Jurassic Park franchise was last in our cinemas*, and with Colin Trevorrow at the helm, next year’s blockbuster is guaranteed to be special.

Trevorrow made huge waves with his directorial debut, Safety Not Guaranteed, and has been in demand across a slew of projects ever since. Universal wasn’t the first to bring him on board, but they were clearly the most eager to work with him, with Jurassic World taking precedence over two other projects the writer-director had been attached to make.

The studio has been doing a great job of keeping things under wraps, teasing a few photos from the set, and more recently a handful of stills. And now it’s the moment that we’ve all been waiting for: An awesome first trailer for the blockbuster sequel.

Chris Pratt leads an all-star new ensemble cast, alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Judy Greer, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, BD Wong, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Vincent D’Onofrio, Katie McGrath, and Brian Tee.

Trevorrow is directing from a script first written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), with Trevorrow and Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed) reuniting to rewrite the script.

One of the things that’s most encouraging here is Universal’s eagerness to let Trevorrow and Connolly work their magic. They didn’t just bring him on to direct the script they had; they were willing to give him and Connolly a chance to rewrite the film, no doubt finding the tone they wanted to set, and pushing back the release date in order to do just that. That’s how you know this is going to be good.

Jurassic World is set to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on June 12th, 2015 in the US and UK. To help make that wait a little bit easier, here’s the brilliant first trailer. Enjoy.

*Not including Jurassic Park 3D, of course.
