With Josh Boone having just this weekend unveiled his first feature film, Writers, at the Toronto International Film Festival, The Playlist have published two new images from the project.

Writers stars Greg Kinnear as a successful author whose family — and casual hook-up Kristen Bell — is plagued by unresolved feelings towards his ex-wife, played by Jennifer Connelly. Lily Collins appears as the one of their two children (alongside Nat Wolff), who is determined not to follow in her parents’ doomed footprints when she becomes romantically involved with Logan Lerman’s classmate, Lou.

The main players appear in the latest images, included below, while The Playlist also sat down with Boone to discuss the film’s production…

“I sent a letter to Judy Cairo who produced Crazy Heart who gave me the shot to make this movie”, he explained. “She ended up liking it, and she took it to CAA and they had agents there who really got behind it and had their talent meet with me. I was very, very lucky.”

And soundtrack…

“I wrote a lot of songs into this script, knowing I wanted to use them and we were able to get most of what I needed for the movie. So when I met with the music supervisor for the first time he said ‘Who’s your dream [to score the movie]?’ And I was like ‘The Bright Eyes guys.’ And somehow he helped make that happen. Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott scored it and Conor [Oberst] gave us an original song and did some other work on it and it turned out really beautifully.”

Writers doesn’t currently have a UK release date, but will most likely follow the US release at some point in 2013.
