John Williams is undoubtedly an essential piece of the Star Wars universe. His return for Episode VII was as necessary as the legions of stormtroopers and the clashing lightsabers. In this new featurette the composer discusses the challenges and pleasures of working on The Force Awakens.
Williams talks about the blending of old and new while creating new themes – his dissection of Rey’s theme in particular is a standout moment. Isolated from the bold new images the pockets of Williams’ music grows in power.
