There’s something incredibly relevant to John Madden’s Miss Sloane, a fast-paced courtroom drama that focuses in on both the muddy gun laws in the US, as well the nation’s problem with ambitious, powerful women.

To mark the film’s May 12th release, we had the pleasure of speaking to Jessica Chastain, as she discusses how the film can be perceived differently following Trump’s election.

Miss Sloane“It’s changed in perspective, because this is a movie about a woman in politics,” she said. “We’ve just spent a year watching the most horrific campaign where a woman was attacked over and over again. Women played such a large part of the US elections, in terms of what the current president has said about sexually assaulting women, and how his opponent was treated by the media. It’s a really interesting film for this day and age.”

We also discuss whether the character has rubbed off on her in real life, and how much she enjoyed reading the screenplay, infused with an Aaron Sorkin like quality. And on the subject of Sorkin – we discuss her forthcoming project Molly’s Game, marking the esteemed writer’s first deviation into the world of directing.
