The cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is coming together very nicely, with Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Tom Hardy all being courted to take on major roles in the DC Comics adaptation set for release in 2016.

We’ll first meet Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Warner Bros. are now in talks with the actor for him to reprise the role in Suicide Squad. This would obviously be a major addition to the movie and proves that the studio are creating a shared Cinematic Universe for their releases.

The only thing which could potentially stop this from happening is the fact that Eisenberg is attached to star in Todd Phillips’ Arms And The Dudes, and it’s unlikely that he would be able to star in both movies.

The actor is a busy man with commitments to Now You See Me 2 and possibly even the Zombieland sequel.

The fact that Lex Luthor could be part of he Suicide Squad doesn’t necessarily mean he ends up behind bars by the time the credits roll on Batman v Superman. In fact, as the villain has never been part of that team in the comic books, it could be that Luthor is actually the Suicide Squad’s target. We’ll have to wait and see!
