The Hollywood Reporter has run a very interesting piece about Avengers: Age of Ultron star Jeremy Renner joining Amy Adams in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming adaptation of sci-fi short story Story of Your Life.

However, buried in their report is confirmation that Renner will be reprising the role of Hawkeye in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, a movie which is set to pit Steven Rogers against Iron Man when they disagree about the Superhuman Registration Act. Who’s side will Hawkeye be on? That remains to be seen!

It’s hard to say how Hawkeye will factor into Captain America: Civil War, as the character didn’t appear in the comic book version of this story. He did however return when it was over and was offered the chance to become the new Captain America by Tony Stark. Hawkeye refused and joined an anti-registration team of Avengers, but again, it’s impossible to say how much (if any) of this could factor into the 2016 threequel.

Regardless, the site mentions that he will shoot Captain America: Civil War this spring and will then move onto Story of Your Life in the summer. How many Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes will end up in The Winter Soldier follow-up isn’t clear, but we do know that the all-new Spider-Man will be among them.
