Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to for Lynsey Addario’s memoir It’s What I Do, a title which has been highly sought after since it was excerpted by The New York Times Magazine. A bidding war ensued, with everyone from Natalie Portman to Margot Robbie and George Clooney all included in discussions.

However, the team of Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Lawrence ultimately (and perhaps unsurprisingly) ended up coming out on top. Addario is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists who went to Afghanistan during the post 9/11 invasion of Afghanistan and carved out a niche giving an identity to the victims of conflict.

Her dangerous work took her through many regions and brought her into contact with any number of people, including Afghans who suffered greatly during the Taliban regime and victims of genocide in Darfur.

The movie has been described as a romantic drama, and Lawrence will play the war photographer with Spielberg obviously directing. He has a number of other projects in the pipeline though, including Thank You For Your Service, and a Cold War thriller with Tom Hanks. Then there’s that rumoured Indiana Jones reboot!

Lawrence meanwhile is currently filming David O. Russell’s Joy and has Passengers, The Dive, and X-Men: Apocalypse all on the way. Regardless of when this one happens, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
