Believe it or not, Furious 7 has now overtaken The Avengers to become the third highest grossing movie of all-time. The franchise was once looked down on by critics and the majority of moviegoers, but Fast Five marked a turning point for the racing series, and the latest instalment showed a lot of heart by paying tribute to the late Paul Walker. It also featured a great villain in the form of Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw.

At the end of Furious 7 (WARNING: Spoilers Ahead), Shaw was locked up in the most secure looking prison possibly ever shown on film, but he promised that he would break free and exact revenge on his captors.

It sounds like that’s exactly what will happen, as Statham has revealed in a recent interview that he’ll be returning in Fast and Furious 8. “We’re already talking about doing another one, Part 8,” Statham said. “I’m a newcomer, I just got invited to the party in this last one, so it’s nice to know I’m going to be doing another.”

Fast and Furious 8 has a release date of April 14th, 2017, but its director has not yet been officially confirmed. There were rumours of Justin Lin being brought back to finish the franchise with a trilogy, but as he’s hard at work on Star Trek 3, perhaps James Wan will return. Either way, it should be a lot of fun…
