For months, comic book fans have been desperate for a glimpse of The Joker, with even just a blurry shot of Jared Leto’s green hair or pale face setting the internet ablaze. However, to celebrate the iconic villain’s 75th anniversary, Suicide Squad director David Ayer has Tweeted out the first official look at the character!

This is obviously a drastically different look for The Joker compared to previous live-action iterations, but is no doubt the most interesting yet. The green hair and pale skin is there, but the smile looks fairly normal.

It’s been portrayed that way in the comic books a number of times, and arguably looks better than both Jack Nicholson’s deformed smile and Heath Ledger’s scars. The tattoos are very different though, and it looks like that might be a dead robin on his arm, more proof that this version of The Joker killed Batman’s sidekick.

Why the metal teeth? Well, here’s an interesting theory for you. They look a lot like crowns, and with this version of the Caped Crusader said to be more brutal, it’s not hard to imagine that he might have broken The Joker’s teeth in a past encounter. Oh, and that purple glove is definitely a nod to The Killing Joke!
