There may be some controversy surrounding his role in this summer’s Suicide Squad as the Clown of Gotham but Jared Leto isn’t letting the negativity surrounding the film stop him from picking up another high-profile role.

The Oscar Winner is set to star in the long-awaited sequel to Blade Runner, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) and produced by original director Ridley Scott. Leto, whose role in the film is being kept under wraps for now, would join an already eclectic cast that includes the returning Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard as well as Ryan Gosling (The Nice Guys), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) and Ana de Armas (War Dogs).

Alcon Entertainment co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson said in a press release about casting Leto: “He is a phenomenal actor, and we know he will create a truly memorable, never-before-seen character”

Blade Runner 2 is now filming ahead of its release in October 2017.
