Talking about possibly reprising the role of James Bond during the press tour for Spectre, Daniel Craig said he would rather slit his wrists than play 007 again. That’s not exactly a diplomatic answer, and while it’s thought that there’s still a chance he could surprise us all by returning for one more adventure (and a hefty pay cheque), most fans want a new Bond.

Well, following reports from The Sun earlier this week that Fantastic Four star Jamie Bell has met with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli to take on the role of the iconic Ian Fleming creation, Deadline has now confirmed that those early meeting have indeed take place.

However, with no script or director in place and the fate of the Bond rights still up in the air (it’s thought that Sony and Warner Bros. will start negotiating with MGM for them later this year), it could be quite some time before we hear anything solid about 007’s future, and one conversation doesn’t necessarily mean that Bell is a shoe in for the role of James Bond.

At only 5’7, Bell doesn’t exactly scream James Bond, and he’s a far cry from fan-favourite choices like Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston. Still, we may now have our first idea of how the next version of 007 is going to shape up, and it looks like they could be going younger…
