In regards to the Paris set thriller Bastille Day, many have seen this as something of a triumphant audition for the role of Bond, for lead star Idris Elba – but for director James Watkins, it’s something of an opportunity to prove his worth on this particular stage too. Having specialised in horror prior to this production, it’s intriguing to see how he’s adapted to a new genre – which he discusses in detail with HeyUGuys.
He also touches upon the pertinent issues being explored in the film, and on his collaboration with Idris Elba, while also speaking about working with Michael Fassbender on his previous endeavour Eden Lake.
