Yesterday, Stefan Pape & I had the huge privilege to meet on of our movie heroes. He’s a man that if you walked past on the street you’d be forgiven for not recognising but he’s also a man who has eight Oscar nominations and has scored over 150 feature length movies. That man is James Newton Howard.

Newton Howard has been scoring movies for over 30 years and has one of the most impressive movie CVs that you’ll ever see. From the likes of Pretty Woman, to Primal Fear, to Flatliners, to 3 Men and a Little Lady to The Dark Knight to The Hunger Games franchise, he really has done it all.

We caught up with the composing legend at the Royal Albert Hall to chat about his retrospective tour which is coming to the world famous venue November 2017. During the interview we also spoke about his latest movie release which you may have heard of, J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which has it’s European Premiere this evening in London’s Leicester Square.

During the interview we discuss how he took on the mantel of the Harry Potter spin-off film, how he has put his own stamp on it, how he incorporated the original John Williams Hedwig theme and why there was a big discussion to get it in the movie. He also talks about why it takes on so few interviews (we felt very privileged) and finally what people can expect from his retrospective next year.

You can see our interview in full below. Click this way to pre-order your tickets to James’ retrospective at the Royal Albert Hall next year, it’s going to be quite a night!
