Always a good indicator of young talent the BAFTA Rising Star Award is now in its tenth year and the nominations for the 2015 prize were revealed this morning.

’71’s Jack O’Connell, currently making waves in Angelina Jolie’s second film as director, Unbroken, heads up the list, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s stunning lead in last year’s Belle earning her a nomination.

Fellow nominee Miles Teller’s career is currently undergoing a grand surge thanks to his role in Whiplash opposite J. K. Simmons while Margot Robbie’s incidenary introduction to many in Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and future roles as Jane in the forthcoming David Yates’ Tarzan film and fan-favourite Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad are the reasons she is on the list.

As per usual there is a name on the list which many consider to have already risen, this year Shailene Woodley, one of the nicest people we’ve met doing our work on the site, is up too.

Previous winners include James McAvoy, Eva Green, Tom Hardy and Will Poulter and, given this is a public vote for a UK awards ceremony there is obviously a bias towards the Brits, though Shia LaBoeuf won it one year – so who knows?
