Well, I think it’s fair to say that none of us saw this one coming! Despite fans starting petitions to get J.K. Simmons to reprise the role of J. Jonah Jameson in Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot, the Oscar winning actor has instead joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

He’ll play Batman character Commissioner Jim Gordon, someone it was previously rumoured would be mentioned in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as having been killed years earlier. Those rumours were obviously false, and you have to believe that the Oscar winning actor will be making his presence felt in Ben Affleck’s Batman movie in the near future.

Back to Justice League though and while there’s no word on how significant a role he’ll have here, Simmons joins an already impressive cast which includes names like Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard, and Amy Adams.

The latest in a long line of Jim Gordons, Simmons being cast in Justice League means he joins a club which includes names like Neil Hamilton, Gary Oldman, and Ben McKenzie.

Justice League: Part One starts shooting next month for a November 17th, 2017 release, while Part Two will follow on June 14th, 2019. What do you think of this casting addition?
