We’ve seen a fair few teasers for season four of House of Cards, but now the first trailer with actual footage showing what’s to come has been released by Netflix. It instantly becomes apparent that things will be very different this year as President Frank Underwood ends up being pitted against his wife following their shocking split in the season three finale.

That changes the dynamic of House of Cards in a big way, and it’s pretty surprising that this teaser isn’t asking us to choose a side similar to the way the upcoming Batman v Superman and Captain America: Civil War movies have! Will they end up coming back together as Frank sets his sights on another term in The White House? That remains to be seen!

For a few more details about what to expect from this season, here’s the official synopsis:

The critically acclaimed Emmy-nominated drama has its Golden Globe winning stars Kevin Spacey (as Francis Underwood) and Robin Wright (as Claire Underwood), whose characters have always been each other’s’ strongest allies, showing cracks in their relationship. In an election year, the stakes are now higher than ever, and the biggest threat they face is contending with each other.

There are a lot of intriguing glimpses in this trailer, including Joel Kinnaman’s (The Killing) mysterious character, that sinister Russian President, and a stressed out looking Doug.

House of Cards was actually renewed for a firth season last week, but with that came the disappointing news that showrunner Beau Willimon isn’t going to be returning to take charge. Hopefully he’ll end his reign in style when the show hits Netflix early next month…
