With the amount of franchise refueling going around there’s little surprise that Fox are interested in bringing us back into the world of Alien.

The news that District 9 director Neill Blomkamp had been given a greenlight to develop his Alien film, teased in some amazing concept art online, was excellent news. Blomkamp’s work owes much to the Alien films, and in a new interview he talks about the forthcoming film, saying that it shares the DNA from the first two Alien films.

He also states what we already knew, that his Alien film would follow on from the films by Ridley Scott and James Cameron. In spirit we’re guessing if not in linearity.

What’s new is Chappie star Sigourney Weaver also opens up about her potential role in the new film, following her viewing of the concept art.

Sky Movies have put a new piece of interview footage, culled from their Chappie interviews with the pair, and in it Weaver talks about the discussions on, and gives her blessing to, Blomkamp’s future Alien film.
